After the end of the current PokerStars Championship Panama and the following Championship in Macau from March 30th to April 9th, PokerStars Championship heads to the French Riviera. The Monaco edition of the Championship is to kick off on April 25th. The brand’s upcoming event is to be presented by Monte-Carlo Casino and will run until May 5th, 2017.
This year, the PokerStars Championship in Monaco are to feature a total of 71 events, offering overall prize money estimated to more than €30 million, with about €2.5 million coming as guaranteed prizes. What is more, the Amaya brand will see a guaranteed prize pool of €1 million granted in the €1,100 PokerStars National Championship, formerly known as the France Poker Series. Of course, the Championship will offer a great variety of tournaments and events, including not only lower buy-in and re-entry events, but also deep stack events, Super Knockout formats, high rollers events, events with longer registration process, etc.
The Director of Live Events at PokerStars Edgar Stuchly commented on the upcoming event, saying that the Monte Carlo Championship would bring a fantastic gaming experience to all players who join the events. According to Mr. Stuchly, not only the regulars, but all kinds of poker players will be given the chance for what he called a “memorable poker experience”.
As revealed by Stuchly, the Monaco Championship would feature a great variety of tournaments available for players of different levels and bankrolls. Qualifiers would also offer various fees in the range from €2.20 to €8,500.
Of course, a number of PokerStars ambassadors are to attend the event, with the names of Daniel Negreanu, Liv Boeree, Igor Kurganov, Vanessa Selbst, Jake Cody, Celina Lin, Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, Felipe “Mojave” Ramos, Fatima Moreira De Melo already being confirmed.
As mentioned above, the PokerStars Championship Monaco is to be hosted by one of the oldest and most popular casinos on a global scale, Casino de Monaco. The events from the Championship are expected to bring together some of the world’s best poker players, including some high rollers known for their preference to massive stakes and even greater cash prizes.
In 2016, the former France Poker Series event gathered an overall number of 1,261 entries, the re-entries excluded. Also in 2016, the Monte Carlo Main Event had 1,098 participants.
